The finishing line is in sight for Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque but the veteran striker seems intent on going out with a bang.

His quality strike in Sunday's 6-1 A-League semi final romp over Melbourne Victory. was one of the highlights of the surprisingly one-sided Big Blue..

The 35-year-old forward who has announced he will finish at the end of the season, displayed his class in his first match in four weeksy.

His cracking 43rd minute left foot shot gave Sydney a two-goal buffer, which they extended to three by halftime.

It was the third straight game in which Brosque has scored, albeit a heel injury had sidelined him for four matches.

Brosque has scored eight league goals, second highest for Sydney behind Englishman Adam Le Fondre, who swelled his tally to 18, with a second-half brace.

The skipper played the full 90 minutes for just the fifth time in 18 league starts, as coach Steve Corica pumped some needed minutes into the veteran's legs after his enforced layoff.

It was Sydney's biggest winning home margin over Victory and equalled the biggest victory by either side in the 50 Big Blues they have contested.

It's the first time either side has scored six goals in the fixture.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
