Melbourne City have raided their A-League finals foe Adelaide United to sign full back Scott Galloway.

Galloway, a former Victory youth product, returns to Melbourne after three one-year stints at Central Coast, Wellington and the Reds.

He scored the first goal of the A-League season in an opening night 1-1 draw with Sydney FC and went on to have a successful campaign with Adelaide.

"I'm looking forward to joining up with Melbourne City next season. It is an ambitious club with a talented group of players, that I'm confident is on the cusp of achieving success," Galloway said.

Galloway's fine season in Adelaide has convinced City to offer him a three-year deal.

The Perth-born defender is the 16th player signed up at City next season, though the club is without a senior coach after their elimination final loss to Adelaide.

After two seasons without Asian Champions League qualification, Warren Joyce left the club in the aftermath of the loss.
