Socceroos forward Mitchell Duke has suffered a knee injury in a pre-season game for Western Sydney, but the Wanderers aren't sure yet if it's a potentially serious ACL problem.

Duke, who joined the Wanderers in the middle of their 2018-19 A-League campaign, came off in the 40th minute of a 5-0 win over Queensland NPL club Gold Coast Knights on the Gold Coast on Thursday night.

A Wanderers spokesperson said Duke and the team flew back to Sydney on Friday.

While there was some suggestions on social media Duke may have an ACL injury, the spokesperson said the extent of the issue wasn't known and they would await scan results early next week.

Duke's form last season was impressive enough to earn him a recall to the Socceroos side.

He started against South Korea in June, almost six years after his last international appearance.

The Wanderers still have one more import spot left to fill.

Their injury list also includes goalkeepers Vedran Janjetovic and Danijel Nizic who are both recovering from injuries suffered near the end of last season.
