Perth Glory have signed Swiss defender Gregory Wuthrich for the upcoming A-League season, but there's still no word on Matthew Spiranovic's future.

Wuthrich, a 192cm centre back, has represented Switzerland at under-21s level and will shore up a Glory defence that will be drastically different from last season.

Jason Davidson and Scott Neville have already left, while Spiranovic could join them.

Centre back Dino Djulbic ruptured his ACL in last season's grand final loss to Sydney and it remains to be seen whether he can feature in the upcoming campaign.

Wuthrich was a part of the Young Boys side that won the Swiss Super League title in 2017-18.

Other than a brief loan with top-flight rivals Grasshopper, he has spent his entire career to date with Young Boys, his hometown club.

He joins Osama Malik as Perth's new signings in defence.

"Gregory is a commanding central defender who is comfortable on the ball and he brings plenty of experience having played regularly in the Swiss Super League and also in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League," Glory football director Jacob Burns said.

"We believe that he has the ability to make a significant contribution for us in both the A-League and Asian Champions League this season."
