Western Sydney Wanderers have suffered a devastating blow just over two weeks out from their first round A-League game, with Polish international playmaker Radoslaw Majewski sidelined indefinitely by a serious knee injury.

The 32-year-old import suffered the injury at training on Wednesday.

Scans showed suspected anterior cruciate and medial ligament damage.

Majewski signed an initial one-year contract back in June and the seriousness of the injury will inevitably raise questions about whether he will get to play for the club.

Its a big blow to the Wanderers, who got to the semi-finals of the FFA Cup, after missing the A-League finals for the last two seasons.

A statement released by the Wanderers said their medical staff would continue to monitor the injury until a final assessment and rehabilitation timeline could be established. .

Wanderers start their A-League campaign on October 12 at home to Central Coast Mariners.
