Injury blow for Victory recruit Hoogland

3 minute read

Melbourne Victory have suffered an early injury blow in the A-League with German defender Tim Hoogland to miss up to six weeks with a quad injury.

Melbourne Victory will be without star A-League recruit Tim Hoogland for up to six weeks after the German central defender suffered a quad injury.

Hoogland suffered the injury at training on Friday and missed Saturday's drawn Melbourne derby.

"Tim went down at the end of training last Friday in our final session before round one," Victory's general manager of football operations Paul Trimboli said in a statement.

"He has had scans which confirmed he will spend around six weeks on the sidelines.

"It's a frustrating setback for him, who really impressed us in the lead up to the season, however, he's a determined character and we know he'll come back fit and firing."

Hoogland's injury means Victory will likely have to rely on Thomas Deng and James Donachie in the centre of defence going forward.
