Finding the back of the net is Brisbane's biggest A-League concern at the moment but midfielder Stefan Mauk is sure the goals will come.

Irish striker Roy O'Donovan's injury-time equaliser in their season opener against Perth remains the Roar's solitary score from four matches thus far.

Their 270-minute wait to find the net is the longest the team has gone without a strike since a four-game run in November 2006.

Encouragingly however they're creating opportunities, with midfield recruit Jay O'Shea's 17 scoring chances the highest of any player this season.

And Mauk believes once the drought is broken, those chances will be regularly turning into goals.

"We just need to keep going the way we are," he said.

"We've created enough chances and now it's just about, I think, getting that first one and then the rest will follow but it's important that we keep believing in ourselves and the process.

"As long as we create the chances, eventually they're going to go in."

The Roar host top of the table Melbourne City this Sunday at Redcliffe's Dolphin Stadium.

City have had no trouble finding the back of the net, scoring 10 goals in five games to sit three points clear.

After conceding a whopping 71 goals in 27 games last season, the Roar have been much improved at the back under Robbie Fowler.

Mauk says its that stability which the team can build on for the remainder of the campaign.

"We've shown that we are going to all get behind the ball and throw our body on the line ... making sure we don't concede which is an important part," he said.

"Now it's about taking the next step and being better with the ball, creating even more chances and being able to score the goals."
