A leading candidate in the race to replace David Gallop as FFA chief executive has withdrawn his application.
Queensland-based Robert Cavallucci announced on Friday he would no longer be pursuing the role.
Gallop is leaving the position at the end of the year and a replacement is expected to be announced by the FFA shortly, possibly at next Thursday's annual general meeting.
Cavallucci was one of the main contenders for the position but says he told FFA chairman Chris Nikou he wanted to focus on opportunities in his home state.
It's been reported that Cavallucci has been offered the vacant Football Queensland chief executive position.
He is the second candidate to publicly withdraw after PFA boss John Didulica cited a conflict with his current role representing the players' union in collective bargaining discussions and applying for the role.
PFA chairman and World Players Association chief executive Brendan Schwab is considered to the frontrunner for the position.
Others in the mix reportedly include ex-FIFA and Asian Football Confederation executive James Johnson and Football Victoria chief executive Peter Filopolous.
