A look at round 11 of A-League action in which Perth Glory announced their resurgence with a 6-2 drubbing of Newcastle

MAN OF THE ROUND: Melbourne Victory captain Ola Toivonen scored a brace in the derby against Melbourne City, scoring his second while carrying injury. However, he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season and will be suspended for the January 5 match against Newcastle.

BEAT THAT: Diego Castro's perfectly-placed free kick for Glory in the 15th minute of Saturday's 6-2 victory over Newcastle. The first of two goals for the day, it curled beautifully to land in the bottom corner of the net.

INJURIES: Ola Toivonen was struck down with that appeared to be an a groin injury in Victory's 2-1 win over City, while Western United veteran Andrew Durante was taken from the field with concussion against Western Sydney.

STAT ATTACK: Glory scored six goals in an A-League match for the first time in almost four years in their drubbing of Newcastle. The Jets have conceded 10 of the 20 goals for the season in just the last two games.

TALKING POINT: Perth Glory made a big statement as they moved into fourth position on the A-League ladder with their third victory in a row. Prior to their current winning streak, Tony Popovic's side was struggling with a streak of three losses and a draw.

UNDER PRESSURE: Ernie Merrick. There's nothing like a 6-2 drubbing to awaken the wolves. The Jets have now lost their past three games and have the worst defensive record in the competition.

WHAT'S NEXT: All eyes will be on the top of the table clash between Sydney FC and Melbourne City at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Sunday night.
