Fringe Socceroos winger Craig Goodwin is returning to the A-League and Adelaide United, his Saudi Arabian club says.

Al-Wehda says they have loaned Goodwin to Adelaide for the remainder of the A-League campaign, in a major boost for the Reds.

The 29-year-old had been on loan from Al-Wehda to fellow Saudi Arabian side Abha, an arrangement which recently expired.

Al-Wehda posted on social media on Tuesday that Goodwin been loaned to Adelaide.

Goodwin departed the Reds for Saudi Arabia in July 2019 after a stunning Australian season which included scoring two goals in Adelaide's FFA Cup final success.

The left-footer, who has five Socceroos caps to his credit, had previously played for Adelaide between 2014-16, after which he played two seasons with Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch top flight.
