Sydney FC midfielder Rachel Lowe says her team has no fear going into Sunday's W-League grand final against Melbourne Victory, having beaten them last week.
Having already beaten them to silverware once this season, Sydney FC midfielder Rachel Lowe says there's no fear heading into Sunday's W-League grand final against Melbourne Victory.
The Sky Blues secured this year's premiers plate with a 2-1 victory over Victory last week, the Melbourne team's only defeat in their past nine matches.
Either side of that loss, Victory have scored 12 goals, putting six past Perth Glory and then scoring another six in their semi-final win over Brisbane last Sunday.
While that attacking form is ominous heading into the decider, Lowe says Sydney hold the edge from their encounter at Cromer Park nine days ago.
"We'll take the positives of what we did in that game in to this game," Lowe said.
"Obviously they've got a great team. They've got great players, a lot of attacking threats like Lisa De Vanna and some of their internationals.
"What we did well at Cromer was not giving them space and trying to limit their impact on the game.
"If we just stick to our gameplan and not let them come into the game as much I think we'll come out on top."
Sunday's game will be Sydney's fourth consecutive grand final appearance, having beaten Perth in 2019 either side of defeats to Melbourne City in 2018 and 2020.
Victory are playing in their second W-League decider, having won in 2014 and beaten by Sydney in the 2013 grand final.
After a dominant season during which Sydney lost just twice on their way to top spot, Lowe says completing a double would be a deserved reward for her and her teammates.
"Winning the premiership was super exciting and something we've been working towards all season but to win the grand final is a different feeling and it would just top off a great season," she said.
"It's definitely something all the girls want to achieve.
"It's my first grand final. I think it's a few of the other girls' first grand final so we're all pretty pumped. A bit nervous, but mostly excited."
