Experienced Costa Rican international Marco Urena has extended his A-League stay with Central Coast, signing with the Mariners for the next two seasons.

The 31-year-old was one of the best overseas recruits of any club last season, notching five goals and four assists in his debut campaign as the Mariners finished third on the ladder before bowing out in the first week of finals.

An experienced international, who has made 67 appearances for Los Ticos and scored in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Urena's re-signing is another recruitment win for the Mariners.

Despite the shock exit of coach Alen Stajcic earlier this month and the departures of Alou Kuol, Jack Clisby and Daniel De Silva, Urena joins veteran Matt Simon, Mark Birighitti and Kye Rowles in committing to the Mariners.

"The first half of the season was really crazy for me, with no pre-season, I didn't know the boys after I came here from quarantine," Urena said.

"My second half was very good, and I showed what I can offer to the fans.

"Hopefully next season I can have more minutes from the start with all the pre-season with the boys and score more goals for sure."

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
