Fringe Socceroo Dimitri Petratos will return to the A-League after signing with Western Sydney on loan.

The Blacktown product joins his hometown club from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Wehda where he scored 10 goals in 28 appearances last season.

It will be the 28-year-old's fourth A-League club after stints at Sydney FC, Brisbane Roar and Newcastle.

"I've always wanted to play for the Wanderers but always something else popped up," Petratos said.

"So now it's finally time for me to play for the team where I grew up.

"I'll give my everything for the club.

"I'm not coming back to just be with my family and be in a comfort zone. I'm coming back to work hard. I want to win titles. I want to win the grand final."

The attacking midfielder has made three appearances for the Socceroos and was part of Australia's squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Petratos is the ninth arrival at the Wanderers this off-season as coach Carl Robinson overhauls his squad with Ramy Najjarine, Adama Traore, Tomer Hemed, Rhys Williams and Terry Antonis among the new faces.
