Socceroos pair Jackson Irvine and Martin Boyle will be looking to land silverware later this month after helping guide Hibernian to the Scottish Cup final.

Irvine and Boyle both started as Hibs defeated Dundee United 2-0 on Saturday to reach the May 22 decider against St Mirren or St Johnstone.

Irvine, who only joined the Scottish Premiership team in January after a six-month wait to find a new club since his exit from Hull City in mid-2020, had a key role in the semi-final victory.

The 28-year-old set up Kevin Nisbet's 27th-minute opener before the win was wrapped up by a Christian Doidge goal in the second half.

A Scottish League Cup winner with Ross County in 2016 - ironically against Hibernian - Irvine also had a big part to play in getting Hibs to the last four, scoring in a 2-2 draw with Motherwell which Jack Ross's team eventually won on penalties.

The final will be Hibernian's first Scottish Cup decider in five years and comes after falling short in the semi-finals of last year's competition as well as losing in the semi-finals of this season's League Cup.

"We are delighted with what we achieved today, we just need to come back in two weeks and try to replicate that type of performance and have the same feeling," manager Ross said.
