THEY SAID IT: "I think at halftime they looked more petrified than when they were 5-0 down at halftime (previously)." Wellington coach Gemma Lewis after her side went 2-0 up to be on the cusp of a first-ever win, only to lose 3-2 against the Brisbane Roar.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Maria Rojas bagged a hat-trick in Sydney's 6-0 win over Canberra. The first came from the spot before an audacious chip just before half-time. Rojas then rounded out her treble by poking home from a corner.
TALKING POINT: Melbourne Victory shook off a patchy slump of two straight losses to keep in touching distance of Sydney FC and Melbourne City at the top of the ladder. Maja Markovski's penalty proved the difference as they secured a 1-0 win over Western Sydney. Perth's draw with Newcastle means both they, Adelaide and Brisbane look set to fight it out for the last spot in the top four.
BEAT THAT: Sydney's Ally Green only seems to score screamers and her effort in the win over Canberra was no exception. The leftback took the ball from a one-two on the touchline and with the assistance of the wind lobbed United keeper Keeley Richards.
STAT ATTACK: Sydney FC goalkeeper Jada Whyman is one clean sheet away from equalling the competition record of seven straight shutouts. Whyman hasn't conceded since the Sky Blues' opening round win over Newcastle.
UNDER PRESSURE: Canberra United are winless in their last eight games stretching back to last season and their 6-0 defeat at the hands of the Sky Blues was the biggest in the club's history. Only newcomers Wellington are below them on the table and Vicki Linton's side have kept a clean sheet just once this season.
UP NEXT: In the pick of the games Melbourne City face Sydney FC. Melbourne Victory will hope to make up ground at the top when they take on Canberra. Adelaide host bottom-placed Wellington, Newcastle travel to Brisbane and Perth face Western Sydney.
