Brisbane Roar midfielder Jay O'Shea says a humbling 3-0 loss to Wellington earlier this season will spur the ALM club ahead of Saturday's visit by the Phoenix.

Brisbane Roar midfielder Jay O'Shea says the A-League Men's basement club has all the motivation it needs for Saturday's visit from in-form Wellington after the last time the two teams met.

The Roar were humbled 3-0 by Ufuk Talay's team last month at Leichhardt Oval, the first of three straight away defeats which have left Brisbane last on the ladder after 13 matches.

Irishman O'Shea knows there's no shying away from how poor the Roar were against the Phoenix in that loss and is determined to make amends when Wellington travel to Queensland for Saturday's game at Moreton Daily Stadium.

"We've watched the video back a couple of times on that one," O'Shea said.

"We've watched the clips this week and we're going to have to change the way we played against them.

"We'll be coming out as a different team.

"We owe them one after the three-nil defeat down there. That was probably our poorest performance of the season.

"We'll be hoping to make it right tomorrow."

Roar coach Warren Moon is expecting to make some changes to the team which lost 2-1 to Central Coast last weekend with defenders Jack Hingert and Kai Trewin pushing for selection after returning from injury.

Japanese recruit Ryo Wada is also pushing to make his first ALM appearance, having yet to feature since his arrival on loan at the start of February.

Wellington are heading north on a six-match unbeaten run which has propelled them into sixth-place and firmly into the finals picture.

The Roar have not won against the Phoenix in their past four meetings but Moon believes the challenge is just what his team needs to kick their flagging campaign into gear.

"It's a test we need," Moon said.

"We need to find a win against good opposition - the team that beat us a few weeks back and exposed a couple of things in the way we play.

"The test is there for us."

Phoenix quartet Oli Sail, Ben Old, Ben Waine and Clayton Lewis will travel to Qatar on Sunday after the match after being called up by New Zealand for their World Cup qualifiers, with Tim Payne to join them with the All Whites at the end of next week.

Brisbane will also use Saturday's game as a fundraiser for clubs affected by recent flooding in south-east Queensland.
