Australian No.3 John Millman has booked his place in the second round of the ATP Lyon Open after a straight-sets victory over Spain's Pablo Andujar.

Making his debut at the French clay court tournament, the Brisbane player eased home 6-1 6-3 on Sunday to ensure a meeting with fourth-seeded Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime.

Andujar, whose four career titles had all come on clay and was beaten by Benoit Paire in the Grand Prix Hassan II final last month, rates as another decent scalp for Millman, who scored a victory over American Steve Johnson in Madrid earlier this month before falling to tenth-seeded Italian Fabio Fognini.

French favourite and 2017 winner Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is also through in Lyon after a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win over fifth-seeded Serb Dusan Lajovic in one hour and 44 minutes.
