Alex de Minaur and Jordan Thompson both banked fine wins at the Libema Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, setting up a mouthwatering all-Australian quarter-final at the Dutch grass-court tournament.

Australian No.1 de Minaur, who has struggled with hip injuries in recent months, beat Italian Andreas Seppi 7-5 6-3 in a repeat of this year's Sydney International final, which he also won in straight sets for his first career ATP title in January.

The 20-year-old third seed, who was handed a first-round bye, will now face compatriot Thompson after he upset sixth-seeded American Frances Tiafoe 6-3 6-2 to reach his fourth tour-level quarter-final of the year.

Friday's match will see de Minaur boasting a 2-0 head-to-head lead, although Thomson - Australia's last man standing at the French Open before bowing out to Juan Martin del Potro in the third round in Paris - will be confident on the back of his excellent recent form.

Also on Wednesday second seed Borna Coric beat Taylor Fritz in three sets to secure a place in the last 16 in the Netherlands.

The Croatian recovered from a set down to advance, eventually winning 4-6 6-3 6-3.

Meanwhile, in the women's draw Australian teenager Destanee Aiava saw her second-round clash with Veronika Kudermetova suspended because of rain with the wildcard trailing 4-2 in the first set.

The day before, the 19-year-old from Melbourne recorded the best performance of her career, beating world No.10 Aryna Sabalenka in the opening round.
