Thompson into Antalya Open quarter-finals

Australian No.3 Jordan Thompson has beaten American Bradley Klahn 7-6 (9-7) 6-3 to move into the Antalya Open's last eight.

Third seed Jordan Thompson has beaten American Bradley Klahn in straight sets to progress to the Antalya Open quarter-finals.

The Australian No.3 prevailed over Klahn 7-6 (9-7) 6-3 at the tournament in central Turkey on Tuesday.

Thompson claimed five set points in the first before finishing the second comfortably without dropping serve the entire match.

He could be joined in the last eight by fellow Australian Bernard Tomic, who faces German Peter Gojowczyk in a round two clash on Wednesday.

Thompson is next up against fifth-seeded Damir Dzumhur, who beat wildcard Altug Celikbilek in three sets after the home favourite put up a good fight before succumbing to a 6-3 4-6 6-3 defeat.

Dzumhur also beat Australian Mathew Ebden 6-4 7-5 in the opening round.

Second seed Adrian Mannarino also came from a set down to beat Roberto Carballes Baena to reach the quarter-finals.

The Frenchman recovered from a slow start to secure progression into the last eight with a 3-6 6-1 7-5 success.

He will face Lorenzo Sonego for a semi-final berth after the Italian saw off Prajnesh Gunneswaran 6-7 (3-7) 6-0 7-5.
