Australia's hopes of winning a Wimbledon title this year rest with juniors after Davis Cup star John Peers crashed out of both the men's and mixed doubles.

Peers and his Finnish partner Henri Kontinen relinquished a two-sets-to-one lead in a 4-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 6-3 quarter-final loss to third seeds Michael Venus of New Zealand and South African Raven Klaasen.

Peers and China's Zhang Shuai also went down in the mixed, 2-6 7-5 6-4 to Swede Robert Lindstedt and Latvia's former French Open singles champion Jelena Ostapenko.

Australia's only title hopes now are Tristan Skoolkate and Dane Sweeney in the boys' doubles.

Skoolkate lost his third-round boys' singles match on Wednesday 6-4 6-2 to Czech Dalibor Svrcina.
