Millman made to wait for Winston-Salem QF

3 minute read

Nearly a complete washout at the Winston-Salem Open on Thursday has delayed Australian John Millman's opportunity to book a place in the semi-finals.

Australia's John Millman will try and book a spot in the Winston-Salem Open semi-finals on Friday after failing to get on court due to the weather on Thursday.

The 14th-seeded Millman will face unseeded American Steve Johnson in the last eight as players tune up for next week's final major of the year, the US Open, at Flushing Meadows.

In New York, the world No.61 will play second seed Rafael Nadal in the opening round.

Millman reached the US Open quarters last year after knocking out five-time champion Roger Federer in the last 16.

Only seven games were completed in the day's opening singles quarter-final in North Carolina between top seed Benoit Paire and 11th-seeded Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, with the Frenchman leading 4-3.
