The local contingent in the Adelaide International has been bolstered with Jordan Thompson and Alexei Popyrin awarded wildcards into the January tournament.

Current world No.63 Thompson had a break-out season in 2019, reaching a career high ranking of 43 in July and played his first ATP Tour final at s-Hertogenbosch.

He also recorded his career best Grand Slam result at Roland Garros, making his way to the third round.

Popyrin, aged 20, entered the top 100 for the first time in 2019, reaching a career high ranking of 87.

He also recorded his first Grand Slam main draw victory over German Mischa Zverev at the Australian Open and went on to reach at least the second round at each of the four Grand Slams.

An additional men's wildcard and three women's wildcards will be announced in the coming weeks, with the tournament starting January 12.
