Alex de Minaur has negotiated a safe passage through to the next round of the Barcelona Open with a straight-sets victory over Alexander Bublik.

The Australian No.14 seed beat the Russian 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 to set up a clash with Greek magician Stefanos Tsitsipas in the next round.

The No.2 seed hardly raised a sweat in a comfortable 6-0 6-2 win over Spaniard Jaune Munar.

The world No.25 converted four out of 12 break points against Bublik, who fired six aces.

After a tiebreaker in the first set, de Minaur proved too strong in the second set to run away with the win.

De Minaur is now the only Australian left in the singles after compatriot Jordan Thompson had a much less fruitful time against the in-form No.6 seed Pablo Carreno Busta.

Thompson went down 6-4 6-0 as the Spaniard swept to victory in just 63 minutes.
