John Millman has cruised into the second round of the ATP Tour's St Petersburg Open, routing wildcard Yshai Oliel in his tournament opener.

The experienced Australian wasted little time in dispatching the young Israeli 6-1 6-1.

Millman broke Olieil's serve five times with the match lasting just 66 minutes - the second set done in less than half an hour.

Next up for world No.57 Millman is a battle with Russian fourth seed Aslan Karatsev - who last week won his second title of the year with victory in Moscow.

Meanwhile, fifth-seeded American Taylor Fritz beat Finnish qualifier Emil Ruusuvuori 6-1 6-4 to advance to a second-round meeting with good friend Tommy Paul, who ousted Spaniard Pedro Martinez 6-3 6-2.

US Open quarter-finalist Botic van de Zandschulp recorded a dominant 6-2 6-2 victory over fellow qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka, with the Dutchman to face American Sebastian Korda in an intriguing showdown for a place in the quarter-finals.

Other first-round winners were Winston-Salem champion Ilya Ivashka and Spaniard Pablo Andujar.
