A relatively quiet weekend in Singapore with a surprise winner on Sunday one of the horses to follow.

Leading jockey Vlad Duric has picked up the plum ride on Blue Swede in the $1.35 million Group 1 Dester Singapore Gold Cup (2200m) next Sunday.

A strong staying performance and a heady Manoel Nunes ride saw talented four-year-old Infantry land Sunday’s Emirates Singapore Derby (2000m) at Kranji.

It would seem trainer Shane Baertschiger got more than he bargained for after he told Glen Boss to get a few practice spins on Blue Swede before he gets the ride in the Singapore Gold Cup.

The much in-form Poseidon appears well placed to return to the winner's stall, when due to contest the ninth event at Singapore this evening.
