A long-term family connection with revered Deagon trainer Pat Duff has landed hoop Corey Sutherland an opportunity to rise in the apprentice ranks.

Veteran trainer Pat Duff will make a late call on whether Gentle Prince can give him his first metropolitan winner since being inducted into the Queensland Racing Hall of Fame when he heads to Eagle Farm on Wednesday.
