The Victorian Country Racing Awards were presented in Melbourne on August 27 with Cranbourne Turf Club carrying off the major award as Victorian Country Club of the Year.

Country Racing Victoria announced that Victoria's Country Trainer of the Year will be presented with the George Hanlon Trophy to duly recognise their outstanding training achievement.

Racing has lost one of its true characters with the death of Hall of Fame trainer George Hanlon at the age of 93.
