Last year's Orange Cup victor Micalong has succumbed to a foot abscess and will not take part at Rosehill this weekend much to the disappointment of Canberra based trained Mick Miladinovic.

The successful formula adopted by trainer Richard Clarke with Granite Bluff could again pay dividends when the veteran galloper runs in the $25,000 Bankstown Sports Forbes Cup (1600m) today.

It's not often you see a horse compete in the Canberra Cup and a few months later prove competitive as a sprinter but then there is Micalong.
