The Rosehill Timeform recap featuring a race by race overview of key performers and ones to watch from the Golden Gift meeting at Rosehill on November 9.
The first running of the Golden Gift with its $1million purse attracted a capacity field of two-year-olds and it was the Team Snowden-trained Dame Giselle who confirmed her spot in the Golden Slipper with a near four length victory.
Luckless runner up See You Soon also guaranteed herself a Golden Slipper berth courtesy of her brave effort in the straight after severe interference.
Reelem In Ruby led in a quinella for Team Snowden and Triple Crown racing in the Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) with Group 1 goals now beckoning the mare in the second half of the season.
Earlier in the program, California Longbow and Mangione showed good promise running first and third respectively in an 1800m Benchmark 78 Handicap.
Race 1: Lucicello - Benchmark 78 3YO+ F&M Handicap (1100m)
Lucicello was a dual stakes placegetter earlier this season so this on paper always looked an ideal starting point for her latest campaign.

The daughter of I Am Invincible won first up with a figure about a length off her best. The filly will be fitter for the run and is back in work at a time where she can work through her grades against her own sex.
Invictus Salute showed good improvement second up. There might be a win for her in fillies and mares grade next start if she can keep away from Lucicello.
Race 2: Hit The Target - Class 3 TAB Highway Handicap (1500m)
Hit The Target is yet another case of a luckless Highway Handicap runner bouncing back courtesy of a kinder run at their next start.

The Uncle Mo gelding landed outside the lead and while there were a couple of swoopers closing late, he always looked to have the race in his keeping.
It was his fourth win from 11 starts and the Stephen Jones-trained gelding is really starting to possess that Country Championships profile now.
Usually there are a few worth blackbooking in Highway Handicaps outside of the winner.
From an immediate form line perspective though, Saturday’s race could be a shade quiet. It lacked any genuine hard luck stories and a lot of the horses running on are well into their preps.
Race 3: Humbolt Current - Benchmark 78 3YO+ Handicap (2400m)
He finally won! It took one of the kindest runs a horse will ever get over 2400m courtesy of James Doyle but thankfully he capitalised.
The issue is while Humbolt Current has finally broken through, there are no 2400m races in Sydney for the next month. The son of Fastnet Rock will either have to drop back to ten furlongs or travel to Brisbane or Melbourne to find something.
Angel Of Heaven was again sound in third however is no doubt testing the patience of followers.
Saturday marked three straight placings now at $3 or shorter.
The well bred daughter of Redoute’s Choice may be worth one more chance depending on what race she lands in next start.
Race 4: California Longbow - Benchmark 78 3YO+ Handicap (1800m)
California Longbow is heading in the right direction this prep. The run prior he finished fourth to Pancho who has since gone on to frank the form with a second in the Bondi Stakes and then a stakes win at Flemington.
The Team Snowden-trained gelding moved out of Pancho’s shadow in really encouraging fashion on Saturday.
The four-year-old has a Benchmark of just 72 after Saturday so there is ample opportunity to work right through the grades this summer.
He’s by Pierro so getting out to ten furlongs should be no problem.
California Longbow and third placegetter Mangione can perhaps go to the same 2000m race at Kembla Grange in two weeks.
Mangione was hitting the line well and is by Fiorente, another who is bred to appreciate ground.
They shape as two lightly-raced types with a bit of middle distance/staying potential.
Race 5: Ready For Danger - The Country Classic (2000m)
Ready For Danger was given a beautiful ride by Jason Collett, behind the leaders on the fence.

When the clear space emerged at the 250m, he charged through it and has run equal to his career best achieved earlier this year on Magic Millions Day, a meeting he is likely heading to again in January.
Matthew Dunn placed this horse extremely well on Saturday. He was a last start Saturday winner dropping back to country restricted level event. It was Dunn’s third Country Classic winner in the four years the race has been held.
Race 6: Dame Giselle - Golden Gift (1100m)
Dame Giselle improved sharply on a sound debut by putting almost four lengths on See You Soon who herself is promising.

We’ve awarded the run a Timeform rating of 109, equal to the figure we gave Global Quest for his Breeders Plate win meaning both boys and girls two-year-old divisions now have a clear cut leader.
See You Soon had a tough run but was strong late. Getting her head down late for second has basically assured her of a Golden Slipper berth. Their respective large paydays on Saturday mean both Dame Giselle and See You Soon can resume in the Reisling and go into the Golden Slipper second up.
Cellsabeel in fourth was huge on debut as was Blaze A Trail.
This was the first $1million Golden Gift and it rates to suggest it will be a highly relevant form line in the autumn. It’s an ideal start to the Golden Gift having ‘Big Race’ status.
Race 7: Reelem In Ruby - Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m)
After two seconds to commence her preparation, Saturday was a case of third time lucky this campaign for Reelem In Ruby. The Hot Danish Stakes was her fourth win from ten starts and the Pierro mare has now passed the half a million prizemoney mark.

Reelem In Ruby has accounted for a nice field of fillies and mares here. She’s improved with each run this prep. On Saturday she has run to a Timeform rating of 110 which is a career peak by some way.
Post race the stable suggested the Coolmore Classic during the autum is their next major goal for Reelem In Ruby which from here certainly shapes as a natural trajectory for her.
El Dorado Dreaming and Luvaluva were working through their gears well late. Luvaluva is going into The Gong next fortnight. Out to the mile third run from a spell appears ideal.
Multaja was charging home in fourth. She’s more so known as a proper sprinter but added another string to her bow on Saturday.
Vinicunca back in second last shapes as a complete forget run. Robbie Dolan had a lapful of horse underneath him but nowhere to go. Watch where she heads for her next start.
Race 8: Stephan - Benchmark 78 CG&E Handicap (1100m)
The quaddie paid almost $20k and this was why.
Stephan is a seven-year-old with just 16 starts to his name and Saturday represented his career best win.

The son of Krupt only has a Benchmark 77 meaning he can get into another Benchmark 78 event at his next start and not carry the grandstand.
There is one at the same course, class and distance in three weeks time which looks ideal for the Gratz Vella-trained sprinter.
A seven-year-old sprinter picking off a Benchmark 78. On profile it doesn’t peak the interest however with him being so lightly-raced, there may be more to the story.
Outside of Stephan, Americana Magic was strong on resuming with a narrow second.
Race 9: Sausedge - Benchmark 78 3YO+ Handicap (1400m)
Sausedge taking out the last delivered a race to race double for Canberra trainers.
There was a good battle for the speed early and the daughter of Shamus Award was able to capitalise on it late.
She’s a mare in form. This is her third win from her past four starts and only has a Benchmark of 76 after Saturday.
There is a 1500m Fillies and Mares Benchmark 78 at Rosehill in three weeks which would suit.
Shadow Flight in fourth produced a huge first up run at $150-1.
There is a 1500m Benchmark 78 race for the boys at Rosehill on the same day. He should go there and after such a great fresh run will no doubt be starting much shorter than triple figures.
