Gundagai racecourse is one of the most historic racing venues in Australia, located in an idyllic setting on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River 375km south west of Sydney. Gundagai racecourse is the home of the Gundagai-Adelong Racing Club and hosts seven race meeting s each season with the highlight being the famous two-day Snake Gully Cup racing carnival in November that attracts thousands of visitors. The Snake Gully Cup takes its names from the famous radio show of the 1950s Dad And Dave.

Gundagai racecourse, located in parklands adjacent to Gundagai Showground, is a turning track of unusual design. The circumference of 1900 metres features two elbows, the first at the 600m and the second 300m from the finish creating two short straights. As such it is regarded as a track that can favour on pace runners. A chute provides a straight run of 600 metres from the 1180m start to the first elbow. Inside barriers are distinct advantage from other starting points on the course proper due to the turning nature of the course.
