The third day of the Goffs November Foal Sale began in sensational style when a Galileo full-sister to G1 winner and recent Melbourne Cup runner-up Johannes Vermeer by sold for €1.1 million.

The third day of the Goffs November Foal Sale began in sensational style when a Galileo full-sister to G1 winner and recent Melbourne Cup runner-up Johannes Vermeer by sold for €1.1 million.

The filly is also a sister to G2 winner Elizabeth Browning.

Hugo Lascelles made the final bid on behalf of unnamed American interests. He said the filly is likely to be trained in England.

The filly was offered by the Castlebridge Consignment on behalf of breeder Desert Star Phoenix Jvc.

She is the fourth foal of the juvenile winner Inca Princess (Holy Roman Emperor), a daughter of the G2 winner Miletrian (Marju).

The 9YO Inca Princess will be offered in foal to Galileo during the Goffs Breeding Stock Sale that starts on Thursday.

Day 2 of the Foal Sale saw Stauffenberg Bloodstock secured the top lot when going to €260,000 for Lot 430, a son of Australia out of the Listed winning and G2 placed Thai Haku.

Consigned by Garranlea Stud, the colt’s two year old half-sister Sarrocchi (Galileo) topped the Goffs Horses In Training Sale last month selling for €215,000 before going on to record an impressive win in a Leopardstown maiden first time out.

Another star foal from Garranlea Stud was a Gleneagles colt out of the winning mare Convocate who fetched the second highest price of the day when knocked down to Glenvale Stud for €150,000.

Baroda & Colbinstown Studs’ son of Exceed And Excel out of an own sister to the Listed winning and Irish 1000 Guineas runner up Shifting Power provided another high point on Day 2 when selling to Tally Ho Stud for €135,000.

Other notable sales included a pair of foals that each made €120,000 - Altenback Bloodstock’s Holy Roman Emperor colt bought by Peter O’Callaghan while Yeomanstown Stud ecured a colt from the popular first crop by Gutaifan consigned by Ballylinch Stud.

On Day 1 the aggregate was up 38%, average 15% and median 13% over the equivalent session last year.

Leading the way was Highpark’s son of No Nay Never out of Dacio that sold to Powerstown Stud for €85,000.

Ballyphilip Stud purchased the next highest priced foal of the day when going to €80,000 for a colt by Tamayuz from the family of the G1 winning Luas Line.

Norelands Stud’s colt by Cable Bay, the first foal out of a daughter of G2 winner French Bid, was knocked down for €75,000 to Tally Ho Stud who also secured a son of Camelot from Ryebridge Stud for €68,000.

The November Breeding Stock Sale takes place on Thursday and Friday with Part 2 of the Foal Sale taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
