Max Dynamite is a seven-year-old by Great Journey out of a Monsun mare trained by Willie Mullins.

He gained attention with his second in the Melbourne Cup of 2015 due to a very challenging ride by Frankie Dettori.

Giving the winner Prince Of Penzance 2kg, Max Dynamite was only beaten a half length and returned a new master Timeform rating of 122 in the process.

Originally based in France, Max Dynamite had moderate success through his two and three-year-old seasons which included a maiden win and a stakes placing.

He arrived at the Willie Mullins stable in 2014 who started the Great Journey gelding over the jumps before returning him to flat races mid way through 2015.

This started off with the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle in June where he ran second behind Quest For More. That was over 3200m, and he has had most of his flat starts over this trip.

Before coming to Melbourne in 2015 he won the Lonsdale Cup at York in August by 4.5 lengths, a display which yielded Max Dynamite a Timeform rating of 121.

In 2016 he had two starts where he just lost the lead at the end of the Group 3 Henry II (3290m) at Sandown in May and then had a less than memorable run in the Ascot Gold cup in June.

A long spell followed before returning to the track in August this year where he enjoyed a soft win contesting a Killarney Handicap (3419m).

He’s obviously had some issues but should be respected if he gets good reports from the training centre.
