2019 CAMERON HANDICAP – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Oakfield Twilight will lead the Cameron field at a good clip. ROCK (14) is living up to his reputation this prep, with two wins from two runs at the Sydney midweekers. This is his biggest test but with further improvement expected at just his third run back he can continue the resurgence.

CON TE PARTIRO (5) ran a cracking 4th against quality opposition in the G3 Show County over 1200m at Randwick when resuming from a spell recently. Talented mare from the USA who has acclimatised well and looks to be in for a big Spring.

WREN'S DAY (6) started favourite but after a torrid run could only finish 6th when resuming over this trip at the Kensington track last time out. French import who is a winning chance with blinkers on out of a more favourable gate this time.

KOLDING (2) was the unlucky runner in the Tramway over this distance at Randwick 13 days ago. Will surge to the head of Epsom markets if he takes this out.

Progressive Team Hawkes-trained gelding Rock is now unbeaten in three runs this preparation and he staged a very good effort in recording his first stakes success here. He was eased after being trapped deep from his wide barrier and remained near the tail of the field until nearing the home turn. He put in a strong run in the centre of the track and finished well to score a smart win. Articus raced in sixth pace but wide before moving up on straightening. He challenged at the 200m and then battled on well for second. Nettoyer raced beyond midfield on the rails and was then held up for clear running in the straight, eventually finishing nicely for third after gaining a late split. Kaonic was near the tail of the field to the home turn and made good late ground for (2.2 lengths) fourth. The second favourite Con Te Partiro was handily placed between runners but she was in restricted room all the way down the straight and her 10th should be overlooked.
