Victoria's leading premiership rider, Jamie Kah, is currently sitting on 998 career wins, and with six rides scheduled this afternoon at Pakenham Racecourse, she is a chance to reach the big 1,000, a huge achievement.

Jamie has had a stellar career, becoming the first woman to win the Doncaster Mile onboard Cascadian in April 2021, as well as winning two Group 1 races in 2020, the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes for Chris Waller on Nature Strip (February 2020) and the Lexus Toorak Handicap onboard Mr Quickie in October 2020.

This is on top of her Group 1 wins in 2019 on Gatting in the Makybe Diva Stakes (September 2019) and her first Group 1 win in the TAB Australian Cup onboard Harlem in March 2019, taking her total Group 1 wins to five and putting her on par with Michelle Payne's record of most Group 1 wins for a female jockey.

Last Saturday, 8 May, Jamie became the first female to ride five metro winners in one day with a spectacular day at Caulfield Racecourse, winning for trainers including Mick Price and Ciaron Maher.

Yesterday Jamie rode two winners, from only two rides, for her fiancé Clayton Douglas, a trainer and jumps racing jockey.

If Jamie notches 1,000 winners tomorrow, she will join Linda Meech and Claire Lindop as the only female Australian jockeys to have ridden over 1,000 winners, with Linda and Claire boasting 1,700 and 1,400 winners respectively.

At just 25 years of age, this is an incredible achievement and we wish Jamie the very best of luck tomorrow.

Jamie's book of rides commences at 1pm onboard Golden Monkey, trained by Clayton Douglas.
