Defending champion Good Idea will round his Adelaide Cup defence via Saturday’s $160,000 Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) at Flemington.

The Phillip Stokes-trained gelding hasn't tasted victory since his upset win in last year's feature and was one of 30 horses nominated for the $400,000 Group 2 feature at Morphettville on Monday week.

Good Idea is a $20 chance with tab.com.au for the Roy Higgins, a race that feature eight Cup nominated runners. Race favourite Crystal Pegasus the only horse not nominated for the Adelaide Cup.

Rob Blacker's Tigertiger sits on the second line of betting in the Roy Higgins as a $4.60 chance with Damien Oliver to ride.

Mitch Freedman's Launceston Cup winner Ho Ho Khan is the highest rated Adelaide Cup entry while Hobart Cup winner Aurora's Symphony from the Symon Wilde stable is also nominated.

Wilde had last year's red-hot Cup favourite Tralee Rose who finished fourth as a $1.85 favourite before returning in the spring to win the Geelong Cup and then running ninth in the Melbourne Cup behind Verry Elleegant.

The Stokes stable are likely to have two Adelaide Cup runners in 2022.

Good Idea will be joined by Daqiansweet Junior who was beaten in second place last time out after putting four straight wins together in Victoria.

Daqiansweet Junior was the horse to firm when Adelaide Cup markets opened on Thursday shortening from $8 into a $6 second favourite behind Skelm ($5 favourite).
