The Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable have three of the early nominations for the time honoured provincial feature including dual Balaklava Cup winner Winning Partner who created history as the first horse to win two Cups in 2021.

The seven-year-old defeated Analytica to win the 2020 edition before repeating that feat last year when he was heavily backed to beat Second Slip giving the stable the last three Cup winners after Brown Ben was successful in 2019.

The stable, who also won the 2014 Cup with Longshoreman, have also entered Coolth and My Boy Birmingham for the race.

Leading local horseman Will Clarken has five nominations, which close on Thursday.

Clarken has Agreeable, He's Exclusive, Hidden Legend, Noname Lane and Zoulah entered for the race with superstar jockey Jamie Kah set to have the pick of the rides.
