Invincible Caviar returns to Flemington

3 minute read

Peter Moody is hopeful Invincible Caviar’s second visit to Flemington will be a winning one.

Time has been the best friend of Invincible Caviar who is set to embark on a second trip to Flemington

The Festive Season Sprint (1200m) on Saturday, will be Invincible Caviar's second outing at Flemington after the Peter Moody-trained galloper made a promising start to her career when third on the straight course as a two-year-old in June 2021.

Argentia got the measure of Invincible Caviar that day who has since progressed to being a dual winner in stakes company.

Invincible Caviar is the best performed of the progeny of the unbeaten champion Black Caviar and has been given plenty of time by Moody and patient connections that also raced the great mare.

The now four-year-old is a three-time winner and is heading to Flemington on Saturday off the back of a win in benchmark 70 grade at Pakenham over 1200m on December 3.

Saturday's contest in a rise in class to benchmark 84 company.

Moody said Invincible Caviar was returning to the track a little earlier than he had envisaged after recovering quickly from her 1-¾ length success at Pakenham.

"That was pretty no fuss for her at Pakenham, and it was a short trip home for her after that, so she did recover well," Moody said.

"I thought I might have given her a bit longer between runs, but she has done well so I'm happy to bring her back to the races.

"She's going up in grade again and taking on the boys, so there are a few little question marks, but she has had exposure to the straight.

"I think now that she has learned how to relax, that will probably aid her down the straight as well.

"She should be able to take the sit off one, whereas at her first start she got up there and got a bit lost.

"There are a few positives going there, she's in good order and in good form."

Jamie Kah, who rode Invincible Caviar in her second race start when successful at Sale, replaces Luke Nolen who struggles to ride 54kg.

"Luke rode a good race on her at Pakenham," Moody said.

"She quickened and let down nicely and put the race beyond doubt pretty quick. If we see good acceleration from her on Saturday, we should see her running well."
