Micheivous Molly set for Further Success At Port (Mon)

3 minute read

Following a training treble at the circuit last week, the Wayne Wilkes stable is set for another successful day at the Port Macquarie race meeting scheduled on Monday afternoon.

Mischievous Molly was one of three gallopers to land the top prize on that occasion and the daughter of Sooboog has bright prospects to continue her strong form in the Fishers Plumbing Handicap after a dominant maiden victory over Bonnie Vale.

This was a reward for the filly's consistent form, and it should be noted that Mischievous Molly has figured in the placings in all five appearances with the engagement of Andrew Gibbons providing further confidence.

The prominent Novocastrian hoop has established a wonderful partnership with Wayne Wilkes and had a field day at the previous race meeting conducted by the club with a riding treble taking him closer to the half-century for wins in the latest state premiership statistics.

The assignment may not be as difficult for Mischievous Molly as one would suggest with the progression to class two company providing a clash with runners featuring similar winning strike rates.

Bantarki broke his maiden status at the Port track last month and provides the stiffest opposition with the flashy chestnut hoping to continue the great strike rate being enjoyed by popular Taree trainer, Tony Ball, while Narnia should not be discounted.

The Paul Shailer-trained gelding has been working towards further glory after solid placings on the north coast in recent times while betting transactions should be considered regarding the chances of Winter Thorn upon resumption from a spell.

October Revolution was narrowly defeated by Toomuchinformation last week and should provide the testing material in the following event while Equivocal is poised to capitalise on his recent maiden win with success in the final event on the card.

A repeat performance for Gulf of Tomini could present punters with a bright start on the day following the gelding's narrow victory over Nothing's Sacred a fortnight ago.

The son of Not a Single Doubt drops in weight and displays a pattern of racing well off the speed which could be advantageous in this distance assignment.

Better Not Bitter is unbeaten at the Port track and keen form students consider the Kris Lees-trained gelding as the stiffest opposition while Your Temptation is the only other representative from the Wayne Wilkes stable on the day and has been a model of consistency.

The club greatly appreciates the support provided by all our valued sponsors over the past year and would like to acknowledge great organisations including Carlton and United Breweries, Tabcorp, Flower Hotels, Fishers Plumbing, GemLife Rainbow Beach, Panthers Port Macquarie, and De Bortoli Wines in the success of Monday's meeting.

All roads lead to the circuit on Sunday 18th June when the Wauchope Jockey Club host their major day of racing featuring the $40,000 Wauchope Cup and $30,000 Sprint program.

This meeting is being conducted by the Wauchope Jockey Club and booking inquiries should be directed to Debbie Prosser on 0475 672 251 or email - wauchopejc@gmail.com

Unfortunately, the allocation of reserved seating has been sold out for the day, but the normal outstanding facilities will be in full operation with plenty of undercover tables in the outside bar and betting ring area available.

This will be the final race program conducted before the course proper is reconstructed to provide the best possible racing and training facilities and an all-weather turf surface will be established befitting the status of the club with further building work commencing to update amenities for members and the general public.

In his position as president of the Port Macquarie Race Club, Greg Delaforce would like to thank all racing participants for their support and patience over the next few months while major works are performed and is hopeful the updated facilities will provide great rewards and propel the club into the next millennium as one of the leaders in the industry.
