Promising two-year-old Dubenenko ticked all the boxes needed in her first public hit-out at the Balaklava trials on Friday.

The luckless youngster flew home to finish sixth, beaten just 2.25 lengths, in the $2m Blue Diamond Stakes at Sandown in February and hasn't raced since she was bought down in the Group 2 VRC Sires' at Flemington in March.

Dubenenko jumped well and raced on speed in her trial, going to the line to win under a strong hold for jockey Teagan Voorham.

"I was very happy with her,'' trainer Chris Bieg said.

"She'd only had the one gallop leading into the trial, so we just wanted to see her go through her paces, getting among other horses and make sure she hadn't lost any confidence,'' he said.

Bieg said she was likely to target a Racing Rewards race at Murray Bridge first-up before stepping out in the last feature race of the SA racing season, the Listed Lightning Stakes at Morphettville on July 29.

"She'll have another trial,'' Bieg said.

"The plan looks like she'll resume at Murray Bridge and then all going well on to the Lightning,'' he said.

Dubenenko's stylish return capped a successful couple of days for owner Tim Lillie after his dual Listed winning mare Diamonds fetched $560,000 at the Magic Millions Online Sale this week.

A winner of the Listed City Of Marion Stakes and Listed Christmas Handicap at Morphettville last year was purchased by Damon Gabbedy from Belmont Bloodstock.

"It was great for everyone and especially Tim,'' Bieg said.

"It's nice to be able to get a horse like her and take her to winning Stakes races, adding that residual value to her post racing career.

"That's the goal when you buy fillies, so it was a great result for the team,'' he said.
