Tayah has the touch with Rosie

3 minute read

Devonport-based apprentice Tayah Stalker made the most of her trip to Tuesday’s Hobart meeting with an all-the-way win on Reward For Rosie ($7-$17) for her boss Glenn Stevenson.

Tayah Stalker has now won aboard Reward For Rosie at her past two rides on the 6YO mare, who she rated perfectly over the 2100m trip.

"I do all her track work, and I do really like the horse she's tough and honest.

"She saw the horse come up on the outside of her but really stuck the ears back and had a crack, she did a really good job today," Stalker said.

"It's a bit hard to get rides, but I know my time will come to find more rides, I've just got to work really hard."

Goldenlass a golden girl

A freshen-up did the trick for Gee Gee Goldenlass ($7 – $8.50) who came from worse than midfield to score a last-stride win in the 0-60 (1100m).

Gee Gee Goldenlass, now in the care of Cameron Thompson and ridden by Chelsea Baker, hadn't started since finishing down the track in Hobart in early September.

"I would have liked to have been a pair closer in the run; the mare travelled up well, and I think she deserved to win," Baker said

Gee Gee Golden Lass (Wordsmith x La Quita) has been purchased by Thompson as a broodmare prospect.

Wordsmith sired the first three placegetters with Elmajay ($3.70) second and Nev's Boy ($7) third.

Milestone win

Apprentice Jackson Radley booted home his fifth career win for his boss John Blacker, when Whiz By ($11 – 4.40) broke through for an overdue win in the 1100m maiden.

The win means Radley's claim will reduce from 4kg to 3kg from Saturday's Hobart meeting.
