The four-year-old's impressive South Australian form hasn't been missed by bookmakers who have installed the galloper favourite in the Listed Neds Village Stakes over the 1100m at Caulfield despite a wide barrier.

Sghirripa couldn't have been more impressive in two runs since resuming beating Press Down first-up before reeling off a 32.79 second final 600m to score by two lengths last time out.

"I've always thought he was a really nice horse,'' Shane Oxlade said.

"I've said he's the best horse I've had.

"We can't change the draw, Kayla (Crowther, jockey) will do her homework, she'll sort that out and I think if he gets any luck at all he's going to be hard to beat,'' he said.

The stable is enjoying a brilliant run having produced seven winners from their past 20 runners.

"It's nice to have a couple of nice horses in the stable,'' Oxlade said.

Sghirripa lines-up alongside the SA-owned Outlaw's Revenge and former local Extremely Lucky who is yet to fire in four runs for leading Sydney horseman Chris Waller.

There will also be plenty of interest early in the day with the return of SA Derby winner Dunkel who resumes over1800m in the opening race.
