Australia's best young riders get to showcase their horse skills on the national stage in the series which is a partnership between Thoroughbred Industry Careers (TIC) and Pony Club Australia.

The riders also get to rub shoulders with one of the country's top jockeys Jamie Kah who is an ambassador for the Adelaide Cup pony races.

Kah plans to arrive at Morphettville early on Adelaide Cup Day to spend time with the junior participants and watch the two National Pony Racing heats ahead of her own busy day of racing.

The 11-time Group 1 winning jockey is aiming to add a second Adelaide Cup to her collection when she rides talented South Australian stayer The Map in the $350,000 Group 2 (3200m).

Kah last won her hometown Adelaide Cup after piloting Daqiansweet Junior to victory for Phillip Stokes two years ago, and is a passionate supporter of pony racing after joining the One Tree Hill Pony Club as a two-year-old.

In addition to showcasing great young riding talent and being a wonderful spectacle, the National Pony Racing Series is also designed to create awareness of career opportunities in the thoroughbred industry and educate young riders about thoroughbred welfare and life after racing.

Monday's Adelaide Cup program features two separate pony races, and the first two across the line in each race qualify for April's finals at Randwick during Sydney's Autumn Carnival.

Gates at Morphettville open at 11am, with the smaller pony category racing at 11.15am, and the larger ponies at 11.20am with a presentation to follow.
